Pets are expensive, not just the cost of feeding and caring for the animal but also repairing and cleaning up the aftermath of a dog or cat. Deep carpet cleaning and floor scrubbing are the main concerns. But also keep in mind the next occupant of the house may find any remaining traces of an animal offensive. Torn screen, scratch marks on doors, hair, and that "wet dog smell" can be expensive to fix. Even it your pet is a perfect little declawed angel and will always be outside in a dog crate, the additional pet deposit is required. Pit Bulls are not allowed and large breeds may require an even larger deposit.
